Former Chairman, Ikorodu -Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Asiwaju Rotimi Erogbogbo, has urged stakeholders in Ikorodu Division to be cautious in taking decisions that would affect the Ikorodu federal constituency.
He charged them to think carefully and consider the long -term implications of such a decision, especially when it is a political one.
Erogbogbo, who is the founder of RHODAS Youth Centre, a humanitarian, developmental and community -based organization, gave the advice while reacting to the issue generated by the situation surrounding the 4th term bid of Rep. Babajimi Benson, the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, popularly called “JB”.

He said that the incumbent representative has proven to be a lawmaker with capacity, and commitment to development, and who still has the capacity to do more for the Ikorodu federal constituency.
”Distinguished leaders and stakeholders of Ikorodu Division, it is important that we carefully reflect on the long-term implications of our political decisions, particularly in legislative representation. Experience, seniority, and continuity remain critical assets in securing influence and attracting meaningful development to our constituency.
“Hon. Benson has, over time, demonstrated capacity and commitment through visible developmental strides within the constituency. At this stage, replacing such experience may not serve our collective interest.

”As a Division blessed with vast human and intellectual resources, Ikorodu must continue to evolve politically by embracing a more strategic approach—one that prioritizes competence, performance, and continuity over a rigid “turn-by-turn” system”.
He advised against incessant changing of representative, especially in the nature of Rep. Benson, which is capable of denying the federal constituency opportunities and dragging it backward.
”We must be mindful that frequent changes in representation, especially at critical moments, can limit our ability to build the legislative strength required to attain higher positions and greater benefits for our people.

”It is, therefore, imperative that we support continuity where there is proven performance, in order to consolidate gains and position the Ikorodu Division for greater opportunities.
”This appeal is made with utmost respect and in the overall interest of our dear Division”.
